Katherine L. Hurst, M.D.

Dr. Hurst was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. She moved to the United States at the age of 2 and grew up in Warsaw, Indiana. At age 14 she relocated to Los Angeles, California, and eventually attended UCLA where she received a BS in Biological Anthrolopology.  Subsequently she worked as an EMT for 2 years and then went to graduate school at CSUDH and earned a Master's degree in Biology.

Kathy attended the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. She describes her experience as a resident at CRMEF "like dying and going to heaven." In her spare time Kathy is obsessed with Cubs baseball, playing classical guitar, working out with kettlebells, cooking, running, films, comedy, writing, Big Ten sports, basketball, boxing, bike riding and salsa dancing. Her professional interests include women's health, enouraging minoroties to study math and science, and Latin American economics.
